Writing News, NaNo, and a Giveaway

First things first - I have a huge post-Halloween Trick or Treat giveaway. I came home from Authors After Dark (look out for a longer blog on that later) with a big bag of goodies. Secondly, it's been a creative week. Waiting to hear on a submission made - a short M/M piece that is contemporary with a touch of strange magic...depending on how you read it. I should know by early November if it's accepted. If not, I just may make it available through DLP Books, which I really enjoy. I believe I'll always pursue publication through eBook and traditional channels, but there's something to having complete control of your work, right down to distribution and promotion. It's hardly a new concept, either, but the Internet makes it so much easier. I have one more reprint work to bring back from the vaults, then a few original shorts to share in the Dareville world - including a sequel to Daringly Delicious and one for Where Angels Dare to Tread.

For you Dareville readers out there, if there's something specific you'd like to see, I'm up for the challenge. A reader asked for a continuation of Daringly Delicious, so it's in the works. That is, along with the six thousand other WIPs I have.

I signed up for NaNo again, because I'm a masochist. My title keeps changing, but for now I'll call it Project Elvis and leave you guessing. It will be urban fantasy, not necessarily erotic, but I'm pantsing this one so we'll see.

Pamela K. Kinney Will Be On The Radio and On TV October 30th

I'll be on the Richmond's Morning News with Jimmy Barrett on 1140 WRVA Radio Friday, October 30th at 8:05am. I'll be talking about ghosts, of course, just in time for Halloween.

Then that night at 7pm EST, I'll be on VCU Insight, talking about the ghostly stories of Richmond and Virginia. It was taped at Hollywood Cemetery last week. You can see it on WCVW-TV PBS Richmond: Ch. 24 Comcast and Verizon FiOS, Ch. 57 DirecTV, and over the air digital 44.1.It will also air at 7pm on Sunday, November 1st. Halloween. The time when people dreamed of ghosts, werewolves, vampires and other things of terror. For me, it’s always been my favorite time of the year. The lingering scent of the candle-lit jack-o-lantern, reading scary stories, dressing up, and trick or treat.

Nowadays, I get to write those scary stories. As both Pamela K. Kinney and under the pseudonym, Sapphire Phelan, I write different types of tales. As Pamela, I even have two nonfiction books on the paranormal, Haunted Richmond, Virginia and Haunted Virginia: Legends, Myths and True Tales. Doing the research for these books has added fodder to my imagination for future fiction.

But let’s talk about Sapphire Phelan, and how she took the Deep Ones that H. P. Lovecraft wrote and made them the stars of a different erotic paranormal. Normally, I write erotic romances, with witches, demons, shapeshifters, aliens and more, but when I jokingly told my editor at Under the Moon about a short story, ‘Dark Eyes,” that I wrote and got accepted into an anthology, The Parasitorium: Parasitic Sands, deeming it a sort of Lovecraftian tale with sex with the monster in it, she thought it would b e a great idea for an anthology. Well, I wrote the novella, Unwitting Sacrifice, but the anthology never panned out. Instead she accepted it for Under the Moon. It is in both download and print form. And yes, the heroine has sex with Lovecraftian god/monster.

I’m sure Lovecraft is rolling over in his grave!

But the Lovecraft beasties aren’t the only monsters I have out for Halloween. If she doesn’t, well, let’s just say Armageddon just might kill her. Along with the planet.

Quite a dilemma for poor little Tina. But believe me, Charun will work on convincing her. After all, before he became a Familiar he had thousand years of Incubus under his belt.
